The Osler Origin is powered by a portfolio of novel techniques and approaches for sample addition, microfluidic sample preparation, and electrochemical biosensing, and Osler was formed out of the University of Oxford in 2017, following decades of research.

Having recently completed an $85m Series C fundraise, we are now entering a growth phase, where we are scaling our team as we take the Osler Origin product through regulatory activities, and towards market launch.

We are now recruiting for a Lead Scientist based in Oxford, to lead the development and execution of immunoassays projects within our Assay Development Practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for project delivery through day-to-day management of project team(s) working on single or multiplexed immunoassays from proof of concept through to transfer to manufacturing.
  • Recognised as an expert within their own subject/project area, with in-depth knowledge of the relevant assay area for which they are leading the development.
  • Key source of information in their field and actively keeping current in their field of expertise through regular literature/patent searching and attending or presenting at conferences​.
  • Compiling and reviewing all associated documentation.
  • Autonomy in role and requirement to manage and resolve complex issues, both assay and product-related.
  • Active role in resource management, actively sourcing the most relevant raw/composite materials for product development and ensuring all suppliers and reagents are suitable for the product being developed. The person in the role must also have the confidence to challenge suppliers on the products they are supplying if any are non-conforming and have the ability to efficiently resolve any issues, which might also require a deal of flexibility for international travel.
  • Ensures the efficient and successful delivery of project work packages to agreed timelines, actively reports deviations/issues, makes updates to timelines and conveys this information clearly and concisely in a timely manner to the Head of Assay​ and wider Leadership Team where required.
  • Lead a team of Senior Scientists, coaching and developing them and the wider Assay Team.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:

  • Experience in developing a Point of Care device within an ISO 13485 quality system​.
  • Experience gained during product verification and validation activities.
  • Awareness of the complete product lifecycle for at least one IVD product, encompassing clinical, commercial, technical, regulatory and manufacturing considerations​.
  • Demonstrable experience in project management and resource management​.
  • Experience leading teams in an industrial role.

Desirable:

  • Writing and reviewing documents required for product development within an ISO 13485 quality system and ideally auditing experience​.
  • Familiarity of the FDA approval process​.
  • Involved in the management of a Point of Care device from product concept through to product sale​.
  • Active involvement in transferring a product from R+D to manufacturing​.
  • Active involvement and documentation process during product verification and validation activities.
