Contract: Full-time, permanent 

Location: Oxford, based onsite 5 days per week

Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum

Starting: ASAP

The Senior Process Engineer is part of the Osler Manufacturing team creating new industry-leading diagnostics platforms for life sciences and clinical markets. In this position you will support the definition and development of new consumable products and instruments to support Osler’s diagnostics applications.

The job includes contributing to cross-functional teams as well as evaluating new technologies, materials, and vendor partners to meet performance, reliability, yield, and cost objectives of product/process development.

What you will be involved in/desired skills:

A process development engineer with experience of transferring processes from the lab to production. Expertise in some/all of the following areas:

  • Adhesion/adhesive optimisation through process and surface modifications. Familiarity with adhesion assessment and QC techniques.
  • Mechanical characterisation of process jigs and fixtures and optimisation using rapid prototyping techniques.
  • Liquid handling/droplet dispensing techniques for protein arrays/ electrode functionalisation.
  • Technical transfer/ six sigma processes such as failure mode analysis, root cause analysis and DOE.
  • Able to mine available databases for relevant metrics and present/summarise data in a transparent and accessible format.
  • Accurate recording of development work/trial batches and production of clear technical summary reports.
  • Develop and document work instructions/SOPs and batch records.
  • Familiarity with the material properties of elastomers/thermoplastics.
  • Able to contribute to maintenance and calibration activities.
  • Experience of working to ISO13485 or a similar highly regulated environment.
  • Early process development work will require the candidate to communicate effectively across disciplines and especially with the research chemistry group, consequently experience of electrochemistry and/or immunoassay techniques would be an advantage.
