Contract: Fulltime, permanent 

Location: Oxford/ hybrid

Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum- flexible

Position Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Test Engineer to join the Software Development team, who will ensure that our software product is tested to high standards based on industry best practices. To achieve this, as part of a team responsible for testing, debugging, and qualifying software releases and updates, you will need great communication with the multidisciplinary team creating the product. Your goal will be to enable the team to get the software product tested and released to the market according to agreed project timelines.

To be suitable for this role your current skills and experience will include: 

  1. An ability to rapidly understand complex technical requirements and derive test cases from these requirements
  2. Experience Implementing State Machine for devices.
  3. Formulation of detailed test cases that provide comprehensive coverage of software requirements
  4. Experience implementing UART interface to communicate with other processors and device self-tests
  5. Development of test scripts to automate test cases in scripting languages (such as, but not limited to, Python)
  6. Manual execution of test cases
  7. Knowledge of - C, IAR Workbench, STM32 Cortex M3 processor and JTAG.
  8. Software development using an Agile methodology
  9. Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to other team members including Developers, Test Engineers, and System Integration

Responsibilities will involve: 

  1. Driving of all aspects of software test engineering including functional, GUI, integration, system, and regression testing
  2. Analysis of requirements and translation into comprehensive test cases
  3. Automation or manual execution of test cases
  4. Reviewing and recommending new test practices that will enable the team to maximise testing efficiency
  5. Engage in discussions with colleagues in other departments to clarify requirements and ensure test cases are sufficient
  6. Collaborate with software development leads to jointly drive forward the quality of our software  
  7. Contribute to software hazard analysis and development of risk mitigation requirements
  8. Provide appropriate test reports to the leadership team, in a timely manner
  9. Working with software developers to consolidate and improve our Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) infrastructure
  10. Reviewing and signing off requirements and test cases
